Notes on the Archive
Tired of the digital commons? The following report on the EO1 project contains clues as to “what’s next” …

NOTES ON THE EO1 ARCHIVE
The EO1 Archive is a compendium of works (texts) from ca.2022 to 2025, inclusive of links to the so-called back catalogue – viz., precursor works that represent the long tail of the Works for Works (W4W) agenda initiated in 2019 through the OOI-MTA international collective).
The lion’s share of the texts posted to Substack (including earlier posts to Medium) remains unpublished by conventional standards and constitutes “working papers.” Two open-access monographs (2022 and 2025) represent “formalization” of the W4W research agenda under rules associated with the protocols of contemporary scholarship.
Posts to Medium began in June 2023, and posts to Substack began in August 2024. Posts to Medium, as of August 2024, were incorporated into the Substack experiment.

The Substack-Medium iteration of working papers (2023-2025) was part of a Proof of Concept (PoC) phase for the W4W project (2019-2025) – i.e., an attempt to test the premises of the then-emergent “new” platforms claiming autonomy for authors versus “capture” by platform culture. The PoC generally succeeded insofar as it showed “no agency” for the online iterations while exposing works to data-mining associated with the digital commons and AI. Notably, a subsequent PoC phase for the EO1 literary agency project (2023-), launched on September 29, 2023 upon submission of the PhD dissertation, “Works for Works: ‘No Rights’” (ZRC SAZU, 2021-2024), was part of the PoC phase for the W4W project.
As of early 2025, therefore, the combined W4W-EO1 PoC was closed up in favor of “direct action” in the form of transmitting working papers in Peer-to-Peer (P2P) fashion – i.e., privately or via secure link.

The Substack EO1 Archive is, thus, a collection of transitional works, plus links leading to other transitional works parked in similar “online repositories” (e.g., PhilPapers, Zenodo, and Research Gate).
This parting gesture (parting shot at Web 3.0 pretensions) was summarized in the Substack post “À bientôt!” of February 20, 2025 …
“À bientôt!” Substack (February 20, 2025)
À bientôt!
“Intervention in an ambiance …” With this post, all EO1 posts to Substack become – “for now” – an archive.
The justification for leaving the Substack EO1 Archive “in place” involves taking the hit involved without erasing the exercise entirely through deleting the site. The elective paywall for works older than four months will eventually lock down all posts. Paid subscribers will be, through electing to support the archive, effectively underwriting the next phase of the EO1 project – i.e., the intended project-by-project development of a new ecosystem for literary-artistic scholarship.

DVD ARCHIVE
The EO1 Archive includes editioned “multimedia” DVDs (scare quotes required) documenting the long tail of the project. For details (e.g., indices and Gantt Chart), see the following secure link. The DVDs are available to libraries and archives interested in the preservation of the knowledge commons.
